[FASHION] Inspiration // Mixing Prints

Mixing Prints seems so fun!
Flip the pages of fashion magazines and websites and it's all there.
But it's not for the faint hearted and we definitely do not want to end up looking like a total mess!
Haha!
Ever wondered how stylists and celebs
look fabulous and effortlessly chic in this trend?
I've picked out some of my favourite looks from the internet so let's take some style cues from them and fashion sites to get started!

Here's my attempt at this mixing print trend with my accessories
e.g.: shoes rather than actual clothing.

Gingham X Houndstooth

After seeing so many inspiring and colourful mixing print outfits, my first attempt at this trend seems so subtle and almost unnoticeable haha!
Well I guess that leaves a lot of room for me to improve and have fun experimenting!

Have a lovely Midweek!
XOXO~

Mean Bean & Wicked Grind

Brought my mom to Mean Bean & Wicked Grind cafe for their Instagram cake promo last Monday.

All you needed to do was to repost this photo and show it to them to enjoy that special promo and that's exactly what I did!

Off we went in search of this cafe!

It's located inside The Plaza on Beach Road and it's linked to Park Royal hotel so you can easily locate this cosy little cafe once you reach the hotel.

Here we are!
Though the cafe is quite small and there aren't many seats,
they are more than willing to setup the foldable tables for you when the need arises.
I really liked the decor too!
The hanging lights, the red brick wall with black and white pictures hanging across reminds me of New York for some reason.
Not that I've been to New York before but its just a feeling haahaha!

Time to try their cakes!
We ordered the Oreo cheesecake, sea salt caramel shortbread & Strawberry Tart
Refreshing fruity tart to contrast the other two chocolatey choices
Pretty good Oreo Cheesecake I must say!
Not too sweet.
Our favourite of all,
Sea Salt Caramel Shortbread!
Totally delicious combination of chocolate and sea salt caramel that is to die for!
If I were to go back, it'll definitely be for this and the organic english apple presser which my mom and I shared.

They also serve artisan coffee, gourmet teas, cupcakes and organic fruit pressers which are totally delicious and an alternative if you don't want coffee/tea.

Time for OOTDs!

I was going for the casual chic look so I paired my new green skort with graphic print tee and completed the look with heels and simple black accessories.

My Mom's OOTD :)

Have a fabulous Monday!

Everton Park Cafés // Nylon Coffee Roasters // Cozy CornerCoffee //Grin Affair

Everton Park,
the home of cafés, dessert and coffee lovers!

There has been a growing number of cafés all around Singapore and Everton Park is one of the new location for this cafe boom!
Not that I'm complaining cos I love exploring new cafés so we decided to check out afew on a random Wednesday.

1) Nylon Coffee Roasters
A minimalist styled cafe specializing in artisan coffee.
We really liked the minimalist meets industrial decor of the cafe.
There aren't many seating areas available, so everyone either buys takeaways or drink their coffee at this beautifully crafted wooden long table.
You can smell the wood and enjoy a deliciously fragrant hot cuppa!

Their coffee blend varies daily and they also do their own special blend so there's always something new to try!
You can also choose the intensity of your coffee.

It's a really nice place to chill and enjoy your coffee albeit the lack of sitting area.
Will definitely go back to this one! :)

2) Cozy Corner Coffee
True to it's name, this cafe we went to had a very cosy atmosphere!
Cosy lighting among black and white graphics on the walls done by a student from LaSalle.
The decor was simple but it makes you feel very comfortable.
It's a great place if you want a nice quiet place for coffee and snacks.
We especially loved the super adorable teddy bear coffee art!

Why are you so cute? :)
Oops!
I drank away teddy in the cup! :P

The coffee here is less "concentrated" as compared to the one from Nylon, but I guess it's great for those who like their coffee without it tasting too bitter!
And, who can resist the super cute teddy coffee art? ;)

Blk 4 Everton Park #01-50

3) Grin Affair
A whimsical themed cafe specializing cakes in jars!
Not just any kind of cakes in jars but organic ones made from the freshest ingredients and without any preservatives.
The reason why they use jars for their cakes is also their way of being Eco friendly by minimizing wastes instead of using paper and plastic packaging.
Really applaud their green effort in this "use and throw" generation!

The different flavours available!
Not all will be available all the time because they freshly make all their cakes and some need some "setting" time before they can be served.
We ordered dark chocolate & caramel! :)

OOTD

Wearing a lattice chiffon blouse from The Tinsel Rack,
paired with monochrome geometric printed trumpet skirt from Bysi.
Kept the look casual with studded sandals
and added a pop of colour with my lime yellow shoulder bag
both from Charles & Keith.

Alrighty, have a fantastic midweek everyone!
Till then!

The Face Shop - Natural Sun Eco Bloggers Party

I attended the Natural Sun Eco Bloggers Party hosted by none other than one of my favourite Korean brands;
The Face Shop!

The party was held at Backstage Cafe, a nice and cozy cafe with cool woody interior located in the very unassuming industrial Kallang neighbourhood.
We were greeted with warm sunshine the moment we stepped into the cafe as the team from The Face Shop did a very good shop in setting up for the launch.

See!!

Our pretty host Alethia, also dressed in sunny yellow for the sunflower theme!
Welcoming all of us and introducing us to the Natural Sun Eco Range.

Why did The Face Shop name this range Sun ECO Range???
Simply because they believe in eco friendly beauty!
Ingredients used for the production of this line are also obtained from organic sources.
Organic mean growing on soil/ground that are free or have not been exposed to man made pesticides and fertilizers etc..
The product comes with a double sealed sticker to ensure product freshness.

We were treated to canapes and drinks while waiting for the presentation to begin.

Next up,
a product demonstration by trainer Cariscia on the winner of Top Girl 2013; Sheena Phua
using the Natural Sun Eco Smart Cushion.
A product I've grown to love alot cos it not only provides sun protection of SPF50+++ PA,
it provides some light coverage on my not so perfect skin!

TADAH!!!
Sheena looking all radiant and dewy skinned after the application of the BB Smart Cushion!
Picture time while waiting for our light dinner!
Love their personalized name tags :)

Pretty Melissa & Chloe

There was even a time for us to play the Suncare Blingo Challenge!

Chloe won something!

Time for some pictures and exploring around the cafe!

The array of cakes and drinks at the cafe
YumYum!

All of us were gifted with a personalized stalk of Sunflower,
the theme for this range of products.

With Chloe!

What all of us went home with!
A special thoughtful gift package from The Face Shop :)

Let's take a look at what's inside the package!

1) Natural Sun Eco Smart Cushion SPF 50++ ($41.90)

Review:
I really like the packaging of this product!
Its sealed with a sticker to ensure product freshness and to maintain sanitary quality.
The product comes with a non porous sponge which is really good cos it doesn't absorb the product, ensuring that most of the product can be applied on your face instead!

This product is quite moist, gives you sun protection and it provides light coverage too!
Great for those of you who like some coverage without piling on the makeup.
It can also be used for touch ups by layering over your existing makeup .

You can set the look with finishing powder.
I set my look with my compact powder for more coverage cos of my lack of blemish free skin.

2) Natural Sun Eco Power Long-lasting Sun Cream SPF 45+++

Review:
It has a lotion texture with milky feel.
Though it has a whitish look when you first apply it on your skin, it blends right into your skin without any hint of the initial "white" that you saw.
Great for layering under makeup as a makeup base!

#BeautyFact:
Did you know that the fairer you are, the higher SPH you need?
This product has SPF45 which is great for even the fairest skinned girls out there.

Tip:
When applying this product,
start with a small amount then slowly layer on more if needed.
Don't squeeze out too much on the first application!
;)

3) SMIM Fermentation Concentrate Total Treatment Essence

Review:
The package came with the small travel sized bottle, the full size bottle is my own.
I've been using this product ever since January and I really really like it!
The sales consultant recommended it while I was doing Christmas shopping back in December.

Its a very popular range by The Face Shop!
This Fermentation Essence has nanofied particles that is easily absorbed by the skin and the skin feels soft and light after application.
It also prepares the skin for better absorption of the following skin care products.

Tip:
Use a cotton pad for application and swipe upwards during application.
The upward movements ensures that the product gets absorbed into the pores
and the cotton pad sweeps away the dead skin cells.
Talk about killing two birds with one stone!
;)

Outfit of The Night!

The theme for the bloggers party was SUNFLOWER like their Natural Sun Eco Range
so all of us were dressed in sunny shades of YELLOW!
I love dressing up to themes or styles so naturally I was really exited about attending this event!
:)
Paired my sunny yellow midi skirt from The Tinsel Rack with a cute daisy print blouse from Bangkok.
Completed my look with my black booties from Charles & Keith, black necklace and daisy earrings from Lovisa and my favourite high bun!

Thank you Face Shop for the fun filled party and the thoughtful gift package!
:)
