Brawn & Brains

Brawn & Brains is a cosy little cafe tucked away in the quaint old airport road estate, where the old Singapore Badminton Hall is.
Ever since trying them out early last year, this cafe quickly became one of our favourite places for a cuppa and chill. You'll always be welcomed with a warm and genuine "hello!" and smile from basically everyone there :)
It's also great that this place is a stone's throw away from town (Suntec/ City Hall) and is easily accessible by quite a number of buses (e.g.: 7, 197, 70).
You'd be happy to know that the bus stop is right outside.
This pic was taken during off their peak period, as you can see everyone has a seat to enjoy their coffee and snack.
During their peak period like lunch time..omg its totally packed!
They have two coffee blends for you to choose from; Single Origin Guatemala blend & Colombian Supreme & Sumatra Lin Tong blend.
They also serve small bites like croissants, tarts, pastries for those feeling peckish and if you're a little hungrier, they also have wraps and sandwiches.
These are some pictures of what we had over the many times we've been here, enjoy!

Tried the lemon tart,
its quite good cos its neither too sour nor too sweet and the crust is not the hard type so it won't really flake when you cut it.
One of the best things I've tried!
The curried chicken sandwich, well this originally comes in a wrap for but I'm a sandwich kinda girl so I opted for swap.
My, my...the curry chicken chunks were so tasty!
It comes with chips on the side and they go so well ;)
Salted Caramel Swirl was not bad too!

Hahaha! How to resist and not take a pic with their interesting signage?
Thanks for the helping us take this pic Gwen! :)

Brawn & Brains
LOL!

Here's what I wore

I wanted my houndstooth vest to be the focal point of my outfit so I kept everything else simple, black on black so the whole outfit had a monochrome theme going on..
But of course, I'm not one to stick to a pure monochrome theme so I added a pop of yellow with my bag!
There you have it, a modern, minimalist look of the day :)

Bottom: Zara
Necklace: Lovisa
Bag & Shoes: Charles & Keith

Have a lovely Thursday!

SIN LEE FOODS

Sunday was definitely a trip down memory lane for us as
we checked out the newly opened cafe; Sin Lee Foods located in the nostalgic neighbourhood of Jalan Bukit Ho Swee.
I remember my mom told me that she used to live here when she was a baby and also told me about the big fire that pretty much destroyed the kampong and left 16,000 people homeless.
My grandma had to carry my mom to escape the fire!

This new cafe took over the Sin Lee Hup Kee coffeeshop but they retained the name of the original establishment.
The decor of the cafe was a mix between modern industrial style and hints of nostalgia.

Time for some pictures
The exterior of the cafe

There's also an outdoor seating area if you prefer alfresco dining/chilling

Here's their menu
Not too sure if you can see everything on it..
But they include some of the food you find at cafes like truffle fries, spam fries(OMG!), sandwiches, waffles and breakfasts.
They also serve a variety of drinks including artisan coffee, sodas and cold drinks.

It wasn't too crowded when we arrived so we got to sit by the window
YAY!!!
When I sat down, I noticed there cement bench is the same as my tv console at home haha..

The sun was relentless and as much as I wanted to order myself a hot cuppa,
I ordered their iced Peach Lemonade instead.

Alex's latte :)

We also ordered their "Wonka waffle" to share cos we were going for dinner with my parents after.
The perfect combination of snickers flavoured ice-cream set atop a warm waffle, topped with caramel popcorn, marshmallows and drenched with chocolate sauce.
SO GOOD!!
<3

Love this old school coffee machine that's being converted into a book stand.
Pretty creative! :)

Everton Park Cafés // Nylon Coffee Roasters // Cozy CornerCoffee //Grin Affair

Everton Park,
the home of cafés, dessert and coffee lovers!

There has been a growing number of cafés all around Singapore and Everton Park is one of the new location for this cafe boom!
Not that I'm complaining cos I love exploring new cafés so we decided to check out afew on a random Wednesday.

1) Nylon Coffee Roasters
A minimalist styled cafe specializing in artisan coffee.
We really liked the minimalist meets industrial decor of the cafe.
There aren't many seating areas available, so everyone either buys takeaways or drink their coffee at this beautifully crafted wooden long table.
You can smell the wood and enjoy a deliciously fragrant hot cuppa!

Their coffee blend varies daily and they also do their own special blend so there's always something new to try!
You can also choose the intensity of your coffee.

It's a really nice place to chill and enjoy your coffee albeit the lack of sitting area.
Will definitely go back to this one! :)

2) Cozy Corner Coffee
True to it's name, this cafe we went to had a very cosy atmosphere!
Cosy lighting among black and white graphics on the walls done by a student from LaSalle.
The decor was simple but it makes you feel very comfortable.
It's a great place if you want a nice quiet place for coffee and snacks.
We especially loved the super adorable teddy bear coffee art!

Why are you so cute? :)
Oops!
I drank away teddy in the cup! :P

The coffee here is less "concentrated" as compared to the one from Nylon, but I guess it's great for those who like their coffee without it tasting too bitter!
And, who can resist the super cute teddy coffee art? ;)

3) Grin Affair
A whimsical themed cafe specializing cakes in jars!
Not just any kind of cakes in jars but organic ones made from the freshest ingredients and without any preservatives.
The reason why they use jars for their cakes is also their way of being Eco friendly by minimizing wastes instead of using paper and plastic packaging.
Really applaud their green effort in this "use and throw" generation!

The different flavours available!
Not all will be available all the time because they freshly make all their cakes and some need some "setting" time before they can be served.
We ordered dark chocolate & caramel! :)

OOTD

Wearing a lattice chiffon blouse from The Tinsel Rack,
paired with monochrome geometric printed trumpet skirt from Bysi.
Kept the look casual with studded sandals
and added a pop of colour with my lime yellow shoulder bag
both from Charles & Keith.

Alrighty, have a fantastic midweek everyone!
Till then!
xoxo
