[OUTFIT] Leather + Tartan

How do I even begin to explain my obsession with tartan?
All through the holiday season, I was constantly drawn to tartan and everywhere I shopped, they were the first pieces that caught my eye!
For this outfit, I paired my tartan skirt with a basic black tank from H&M.
A very good place for inexpensive basics in my opinion!
Compared to Cotton On, H&M basics feel like they are of better quality.
Not the thin, cheapo kind that wear out after a few washes.

Though its summer all year round in Singapore (BOOHOO...), end of year can be a little chilly so light layering comes out to play in the form of leather jackets and tights!
A leather jacket adds instant edge to any outfit, and I especially love this one from Miss Selfridge for its slim cut and quilted shoulder details.
Besides, a Leather and Tartan combination won't ever go wrong!
:)
Completed my outfit with simple black boots.

Close up of my plaid skirt! <3

Have a lovely weekend!
XOXO~

[OUTFIT] Back To December

I couldn't wait to open my presents for Christmas!
This dress that I'm wearing was a Christmas gift from my dear friend, LaiYee!
I received it the day before and wore it out for a lunch gathering the very next day!
She knew how much I loved forest green and she actually searched for quite awhile before she found this one from Agneselle.

I went to the website and saw that this dress can actually be worn off shoulder too.
I tried it but felt that the neckline hurt my shoulders a little so I kept it simple and wore it as a basic skater dress instead.

But then again, you know I'm not really the sort keep things "simple" you know what I mean? Like, I'll always find ways I can inject alittle of my personality into my outfits.
Since it was the holiday season, I was inspired by Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girls and added her trademark bow headband and heart printed stockings!
I've always loved Blair Waldorf's collection of headpieces and gorgeous clothing in that TV series
<3

I felt like one of Santa's elves that day
            hahaha! :D

A close up of my fuschia ombré tips!
They actually look more red in this pic...
I think the colour faded to red..
But I still love it!

Here's a pic of when it was freshly done

Have a happy Wednesday! :D
XOXO~

[OUTFIT] Japanese Blooms

Met my mom for lunch at Far East Plaza on Tuesday before work. You know the great thing about staying along the same MRT line means we can meet halfway and make our way to town together! :) Great way to catch up since shifting back to my own home after Alex came back from Aussie last November.

I'm wearing this chiffon bomber jacket which has Japanese inspired floral prints! Its a piece that's newly launched on SheCaptivates! This one in Blue is my absolute favourite out of the 4 colours available.
(You can check it out here: Darcie Blue, Darcie PinkDarcie BlackDarcie Cream )

I decided to have some colour blocking fun with this piece by paring it with my mustard yellow origami skort from Bysi. Yes, I know every girl has this pair of skort and you can't walk down Orchard Road without seeing at least 5 people wearing this skort. But its really with good reason this origami skort is so poplular! For me, I love it for its ability to add an interesting edge and style to my outfits. I also love it cos it partially hides my not so small thighs from years of doing ballet. LOL.

I chose to buy it in mustard yellow because it won't be a popular choice compared to basics like white and black. Granted, pairing clothes might take longer but this mustard yellow goes amazingly well with my blue jacket, making the outfit more interesting :) Kept the rest of the look simple by adding a black necklace from Lovisa, black bag from Charles & Keith and black boots.

Closer look of the Japanese inspired florals :)

Met my girlfriends for dinner at Ippudo to satisfy our ramen craving! We went to the outlet at Mohd Sultan instead of the one at Mandarin Gallery cos no need to queue! YAY! :D
They were having this special credit card promo for citibank, spend $30 and you get edamame FREE. Being Singaporeans, we went for it of course! :P Hahahaha......

The lightly salted Edamame which was really quite salty!
It left us really thirsty afterwards :(
So my suggestion?
SKIP THE SALT.

The fried corn which we thought was quite a unique side dish.
I think its something like corn tempura?
I love corn so...no complaints here!

Asparagus with wrapped grilled pork

Belle's ramen special

Lai Yee's ramen

Mine!
Love spicy soup bases for my ramen.

Have I mentioned how convenient it is to meet my mom for lunch especially when she's heading to town too? Haha, we haven't meeting much for the past 2 months cos she was helping Aunty Lai Keow out at the stall. Anyway, she always takes my OOT:D for me, here's Thursday's!

Wearing Darcie bomber jacket but this time in a very pale shade of blush pink.
I heading to work so I just jazzed up my boring work outfit by adding the jacket.
Paired this whole outfit with my maroon wedge sneakers, black necklace and black bag.
Decided to go for gradient colour theme today.

Alex picked me after work and we headed for a simple dinner at Dian Xiao Er, Marina Square.

Yummy CORN soup!!

The very generous portion of belachan kangkong

Comfort food, hot plate tofu!
<3

Oh my goodness, I look so tired >.<

Walked around alittle bit after dinner, wanted to eat LlaoLlao yogurt but was too full!
Hahaha.

Anyway, have a good weekend!
XOXO~

Lunch Gathering

After working on the new launch on the computer for the entire morning, I met my mom, Phebe and Aunty Lai Keow for hightea at Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts.
Happy to meet them cos I haven't seen them since Phebe's wedding on 28th Dec last year! :)
Carousel  remains one of our favourite places for hightea because they have a wide variety of food.
*stomach rumbling after typing this*
For people who love seafood, I heard that their seafood spread at their dinner buffet is very good!
I didn't really take a lot of pics of the food  cos I didn't bring my camera :(

Anyway, here are some pics from yesterday's gathering!
The four of us :)

The three of them :)

My OOT:D
Wearing an upcoming piece from SheCaptivates coming this Saturday, 7pm!

Chriselle in Black :)

Love Phebe's pretty blue lace dress :)

The mandatory photos on the beautiful grand staircase! :)
Was supposed to meet my sis after the hightea but her appointment ended early so she came over to say HI!
My sis is wearing a similar piece coming to SheCaptivates in the near future.

Happy Thursday everyone!
XOXO~

December's Highlights - Studio M Staycation!

December is truly one of my favourite months of the year! No doubt its also the favourite time of the year for many others :) With Christmas and NYE in the same month, it can get alittle overwhelming with all the gift shopping and preparations etc etc. I'm glad that Alex was able to clear leave during this period and we got to spend some time together during the weekdays. We went for a staycation at Studio M Hotel. Its great because its in a pretty relaxing area, Robertson Quay which is near town but away from the Christmas crowds. *shudders at the thought* We drove there after dropping by Far East to stock up on our rack at Blogshop Empire and lunch.

After checking in... photo time!

 The view from our room

I really like the "loft" style of the room and the wide full length windows!
Though I don't really like tanning or being under the sun much, I love the natural sunlight streaming in from the windows <3

Okay, time to set out for Vivocity for some tea and Christmas shopping! Tourists for a day right? That also means taking public transport! We strolled along the river to Clarke Quay station and that also means more photos YAY! :D

OOT:D
Daisy print peekaboo shoulder dress with wedges from Charles & Keith

The colourful buildings against the lovely clear blue sky!

Alex's OOT:D hahaha...

We went to Bakerzin for their weekday teatime special upon reaching Vivo after which, we went to get my iPhone 5S! Yessss!! I can finally get rid of my 8GB iPhone 4 that was still running on iOS5 when everyone else was already running on ios7 simply cos it has no space.

Beyond happy to receive that as my Christmas present from Alex! :D

Headed back to the hotel after a simple dinner at Wangz cafe.
:)

Next morning we explored the hotel, saw this walkway with natural sunlight streaming in and I can't resist taking some pics here. My OOT:D for brunch was really simple. The whole idea of this staycaion was to relax right? So the pieces I packed were also vacation style LOL.

Featuring a floral cut out cropped top that's launching on SheCaptivates (www.shecaptivates.com) this Saturday!

Off to brunch! You know what they say... A hungry man is an angry man >.<!!
We walked to Common Man Coffee Roasters for brunch.
We actually drove past this place quite a few times and wanted to try so today's the day!
Yay :D
Flat White for Alex.
A pot of Earl Grey for me.
Btw, the pot was really heavy!

Give the man coffee and he's happy!
Actually I told him "can you give a happier smile?!?!"
But seriously, give the man his coffee and he will be fine.

Our food has ARRIVED!!!
Okay, the platter was very big and the plate?
VERY HEAVY!!
Alex ordered the Common Man Breakfast Platter.
Looks really good!

Love the crispy bacon and sautéed mushrooms.
Didn't try the rest cos it's not my breakfast.
But Alex said it was very filling and the food is great!
They were very generous with their portions.
I think this breakfast platter can be for 2.
All of his favourite food in a platter.
Thumbs UP to this place!

Here's mine!
I ordered churros cos I didn't want something too heavy but when it came..it really looked like I had ordered dessert instead of breakfast haha!
Generous portions as well.
The churros were freshly made so they tasted slightly different from the ones I usually have.
Yummy with the chocolate sauce!

The mandatory shot outside the cafe with the fierce looking eagles.
Beware, they bite!
Just kidding :P

We headed back to the hotel and took some photos along the way.

We went to the poolside to explore and to take some photos :)
I really love this floral cutout cropped top!
It's perfect for pairing with shorts for casual outfits or layered over basic maxi dresses to jazz it up.
It comes in black too!
And its launching this Saturday, 7pm on SheCaptivates!
 Nice poolside concept :)

Posing while Alex answers a call hehehe...

Okay, enough of the "posey" shots haha!
We went back to the room to pack up, preparing for check out.
Thanks Alex for this staycation to celebrate our anniversary!
I really had fun, hope you did too! :D

Here's a pic Alex took which he thought was very funny.
I shall end with this
